Homeworkin'

Max got his first round of homework this past Monday and knocked out everything he needed to do for the week in the first hour he was home.

That's my boy!

Feed me

Sam has a pretty clear way of letting us know he's hungry. [watch]

Kickoff

Sunday it was the first fishing trip, yesterday was the first day of kindergarten and today it was Max's first soccer practice.

He and 80 under-6 kids from the Mt. Baker/Lakewood neighborhoods gathered at a large field in a park for drills at eight different stations. I coached the Give-and-Go area.

We practice two days a week and even though we don't play games, we still have a team name. The kids voted and Falcons easily won out over Bumble Bees and Walruses.

Go Falcons!

A log at a 90-degree angle that is.

Max's first day of kindergarten

This morning Elisa, Sam and I walked Max to his first day of kindergarten at John Muir Elementary, which is about three-quarters of a mile from our house.

He wore khakis and a navy polo, which are optional elements in his school uniform. Mom got him a new backpack and filled his Planes lunch box with lots of good stuff.

Elisa and I shed a few tears watching our little man start on this journey.

Max reported that his first day went well. He liked recess and getting to go to the gym for excercise.

He's in a split kindergarten and first grade class, which should give him the opportunity to progress faster, if he can.

But hopefully not too fast. We're not ready for the college drop off yet.

Gone fishing

After many, many requests and a delivery of a big load of fishing gear from his Pop-Pop Bruce, Max finally got to go fishing this morning.

Our family friend Tom took Max to a dock nearby our house and taught him (and me) how to tie lines, cast, bait, etc.

While we couldn't teach our precocious little angler the patience needed to catch a fish, we did provide a morning full of memories.

Doing work

I'm a little late on the Labor Day post, but the family did put in some work last Monday.

Seahawks to the Max

Max and I took in the NFL and Seahawks Opener with two of my best friends, Uncle Adam and Uncle Rob.

We tackled the NFL Experience, a pre-game concert with Pharrell, the championship banner unveil and a huge Seahawks victory. Max also took down a cheeseburger, fries, a lemonade and a Rice Krispies treat the size of his arm.

Go Hawks!
