Opening Day on a smaller scale

The big leaguers opened on Thursday and their younger counterparts in the Rainier District Little League got things started today.
Leading off the day was an early morning parade for all the teams.

Meet Sam’s T-Ball team, the Blue Dragons

And here’s Max’s Rockets ready to blast off.

Showing off his fancy, new uniform before his first game.

Rockin’ the eye black

Max’s first at bat against a kid pitcher. He led off and got hit in the wrist on the very first pitch.

He was fine and finished out the day playing two games and collecting a hit, a couple of walks and lots of pizza afterwards.

Play Ball 2: The Next Generation

Sam had his first ever baseball practice this morning.

He brought his usually energy and enthusiasm. During the team introductions he announced his name loud and proud and maybe a little out of turn. He also circled his finger around his ear to tell his coach and teammates that that meant crazy.

Sam has lots of friends he knows on the team and some kiddos that will be new friends.

I'm helping to coach with my friend, Khalid and Charlie.

First practice, first dance

I discovered these two photos of Max's very first baseball practice and his first practice this year for his FIFTH season. As you can see you need fancy footwork in baseball or just some ballerina-like stretching to get ready to play ball!
