Like learning to ride a bike

After lots of practice, Max is fully a go on two wheels now. And rather than chase after him on foot, he's forced me to finally get my old college mountain bike fixed and go out for a ride with him.

Our first time out we went from our house all the way to Seward Park and back, which is close to a 7-mile ride.  Max was thrilled when we made it to the park and asked all along the way how I was doing.

I did just fine and more importantly, so did he.

Make mine a double short

Our two shorties paid Katherine a visit at her job, a little Seattle mom & pop coffee shop. Their auntie made them vanilla steamers... decaf of course. Because God knows our boys don't need any more fuel!

Yee-haw!

It was a few months late, but Max and I finally delivered on my mom's birthday/Mother's Day gift, a hour-long trail ride in Redmond.

Grandma Patti got to relive some good childhood horseback riding memories and Max erased his youthful fears of riding. Yee-haw, indeed.

Contemplating life...

And which boat they're going to buy someday.

International travelers

A few weeks ago we went on our summer family vacation to an exotic international destination. Ok, so maybe it was just a couple miles up the road to Vancouver, but we did get to put the first stamp in the boys' passports.

My cousin Todd along with his wife and three girls, ages 8, 6 and 1 joined us. So if you're keeping track at home the kids outnumbered the adults.

Their visit started with a tour of Seattle...

Petting zoo!

And the grand finale...
A visit to the doctor after Sam bit it on a slide in the final minutes of our vacation.

Thank goodness for Canada's socialized medicine and Saturday clinics!
