The perfect weekend combo

Like peanut butter and jelly, nothing goes better together than a fresh haircut and a lollipop.

First day of first grade... finally

After a weeklong teachers' strike, Max finally got to start first grade. He's in Mrs. Harris class with one of his best friends Henry and another Max, who is Max C. to his Max G.

We hope Max gets a high score this year!

A tradition carried over from last year... A note or joke in Max's lunch box.

Here's a great year!

Kicking off soccer season

We had our second first today. Max's new soccer team, the Rattlers got things started this afternoon with their first practice, which was nothing short of amazing. Perhaps perfect is a better way to describe it.

By the way... the guy on the right is the coach.

Go Rattlers!

First day of preschool - Sam edition

Sam stormed into preschool today ready to take on the world... or at least PlayGarden. He walked into the place and immediately made a new friend and had no issue at all saying goodbye to me, Elisa or Max, who is home while the Seattle teachers are on strike.

3...2...1... Blast off!

One of Sam's first orders of business was to give his teacher, Mrs. Liz a flower. Makes his dad proud.

He was a big fan of the wheelbarrows

And what better way to celebrate your first day than a Happy Meal with your big brother?!

Here are a few bonus Sam photos from his preschool orientation two days ago.

Sunday fun day

We wrapped up the summer with a boys only Sunday fun day.

We fueled up with juice and donuts at Top Pot

Then headed over to EMP to catch the Star Wars exhibit

We found the droids we were looking for

Almost as cool as the boys' light sabers at home

Wookie photobomb

Rock on

Checking out the games exhibit

Two players

That's not all, folks

The EMP also had a great Chuck Jones exhibit

The boys got to see some of the classics

And sleep to some of the classics

Heads up, Wile E.

Then it was onto the Science Center after lunch to watch some butterflies

Have some insects watch us

And having a staring contest with a TRex

By the end of the day the kids were literally climbing the walls
