Happy (belated) 90th Birthday, Great Grandma Betty

Before May gets away, we'd be remiss if we didn't wish the boys' Great Grandma Betty a Happy 90th. We were so glad we could be in Spokane for her big day.

Beautiful, sunny-ish Lake Chelan

One of the sunniest, warmest places in the state provided us some brief glimpses of the promised gorgeous weather. We also saw two days of rain, the first in months according to the locals.

Overall, Lake Chelan gave us the opportunity to spend time together as a family, be it on the beach or inside the hotel room watching movies and eating popcorn. And you can't ask for much more than that.

Can we? Yes we Spokane.

We took the boys on a five-hour car ride across the state to visit family in Spokane over the the past few days. It was our first stop on our two-part, week-long vacation to the Lilac City and Lake Chelan.

Speaking of first stops, we made it three hours into our trip before we stopped for a quick hike up to visit Wild Horses Monument.
This is the picture that made me feel like we were on vacation.
Max's adventure continued in the tree house in his grandparent's front yard.
He loved it so much he asked if we could spend the night up there.
Sam got his first taste of whiskey.
About 12 hours later Max gave him his first taste of solid food.
Max made himself at home at Spokane's Riverfront Park riding the iron horse.
The carousel horse.
And of course... a real horse.
He also took a fully-clothed trip through the fountain, which I was unprepared for. Hence my hoodie, which he proudly wore around town.
And what looks better than daddy's hoodie? Daddy's hoodie with a new pair of orange shoes.

Spokane was exhausting.
We came, we saw and we took a picture.
Thanks, Spokane.

Happy half year to our little stud

Six months ago Sam Otis joined our family. Although, he got off to a rough start, he's been a strong, smiley, chatty and always hungry little man ever since.

He's been a constant source of love and joy for Max, Elisa and I... even when he's up for the fifth time in the middle of the night ready to eat.

Happy 1/2 Birthday, little dude.

Healthy and height-weight proportional

Sam had his six-month check-up this morning and got a clean bill of health. Here are his half-year numbers with HWP stats:

Height: 26 inches (21st percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs, 13 oz (17th percentile)
Head size: 44 cm (66th percentile)

Interesting side note:

We learned our pediatrician was a comedian in the early-70s, performed at Second City and was roommates with John Belushi. He showed us photographic proof!

Max the entertainer

Max might have a future as a comedian. Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0D7OJLUdwM

Working the swing shift

Nice to take a three-day weekend during these beautiful days in Seattle.

Sam got his first solo swing in
Then took a turn with daddy...
And mommy
Tree swing

Family portrait during our three-mile urban hike. (John or Rob does that count?)
Good day sunshine
Seeking shade under dad's hat
Feeling very Seattle on a ferry boat looking at the Space Needle with a Mariners jersey on.
What it's all about.
