Arizona birthday vacation photos - Part 2

Max's birthday was a day to remember! I brought him down to the Spring Training facility to get a photo with his favorite player, Dee Gordon. But Dee did me one better and when I asked him to get a picture with the birthday boy, he came out with some *very* special presents.

Dee gave Max a pair of his cleats signed by himself and Felix Hernandez. He also threw in a pair of his batting gloves.

And we got the photo with a very happy 10 year old!

Later we headed about an hour south to the Oakland's stadium for the Mariners-A's Spring Training opener.

We got an inning in before the rain came and washed the game out

We more than salvaged the afternoon with three hours of video games at Dave & Busters.

Outside the restaurant I found this mural and had a snap a pic of a couple of my favorites.
Max had his favorite for dinner... crispy tacos!!!

And for dessert? A surprise ice cream cakde!

And after "Happy Birthday" it was time for some silly string!

On our last day we got one more chance to see a game.

The weather didn't look good to start...

But then the sun came out and so did the smiles!

There was plenty to play and do at the Mariners Spring Training stadium

Sammy!

All in all it was a great family trip for me and my crazy home team!

Arizona birthday vacation photos - Part 1

We just got back from five days in hot and sunny chilly and rainy Arizona. It was the family's first trip to the Valley of the Sun(ish) in 8 years and a chance to celebrate Max's 10th birthday.

Here are some of the highlights:

I picked my crew up in a pit crew outfit we used during the Mariners commercial shoot I worked on before they got down.

First stop? Frost, one of the best ice cream shops around!

The house we were staying at with our friends The Hofmeisters had a lemon tree, perfect for making lemonade, and a paddle boat.

We got to spend quite a bit of time at Mariners Spring Training

The boys got plenty of autographs

Ryon Healy

Justin Dunn

Rick Rizzs

Mariners top prospect, 19-year-old Jared Kelenic

Kyle Seager

And look... a Kyle Seager baseball card!

There was also plenty of food!

We wrapped up our first full day at Top Golf
