The Hawaiian vacation photos keep on coming

We spent a good part of the day at Kaloko-Honokohau National Park

The boys learned about lava rocks

And learned the "Rule of Thumb" from the park ranger that meant when you saw a wild sea turtle you were an appropriate distance away if it was smaller than your thumb

Checking out sea turtles with Pop Pop

This was one of the most beautiful spots we visited on our trip

Max snorkeling

Sam sand castling

Can’t get enough Hawaiian vacation photos? We’ve got you covered

We had a full day of fun with a snorkeling excursion coupled with...

Shaved ice!!!

We then took a half-hour drive to Puuhonua o Honaunau National Park

Max took some pictures of the fixh

Sam took a picture of Max and me

And then Max got a picture of his parents

Kona was experiencing record-breaking heat with temps in the mid-90s with 100% humidity. So we needed to take a dip in the water after the visit to the park.

Sam stacked some rocks

And Max did some more snorkeling

On the way back we bought the boys a coconut at a roadside fruit stand, which Max had been angling for the entire trip

The kids liked watching the coconut being cut more than the coconut itself.

We ended the day with another dip in the pool

And a sunset dinner at our complex

Hawaiian vacation photos finale

With our last full day in paradise with sampled a few of the island's local fruits for breakfast

Then mom and dad got some kid-free time when grandma and grandpa took the boys to the Octopus and Seahorse Farms

In addition to the touch tanks at the aquarium, the boys got their hands on a little chameleon at our complex

And fed another one banana slices on our deck

Then it was on the plane and back home to Seattle!

Kickoff x2

The boys kicked off their soccer seasons with a pair of back-to-back games, including Sam's very first match which Elisa coached and I refereed!

Balloon boy II

By chance we found a bunch of balloons at a nearby park and Sam got to recreate one of my favorite photos of Max: https://littlegreenegrape.blogspot.com/2012/05/balloon-boy.html?m=1

Turtle power!

On our weekend bicycle rides the boys and I always stop at a park to catch a view of turtles sunning themselves on a log. Today, Max decided to say hi to one of the critters.

Not to worry... it was a catch and release visitation.

Ready for the big leagues
