The Fourth is first

This past weekend Max told me his favorite day of the year was the 4th of July.  I'd have to agree. It's a full day of fun with friends and family in Edmonds, a town about 30 minutes north of Seattle.

We prefunked on July 3rd at Safeco Field with a game and post-game fireworks.

On Independence Day we watched the Edmonds parade, ate, had an egg toss, played baseball and ate some more.

We came home got the kids ready for bed and then an impromptu party came together in our neighborhood. The dozen or so kids on our block tossed Pop Its and rode their bikes around as it got dark. To be safe, me and another dad parked our cars at either end of the street to stop any potential cross traffic.

When it was finally time to go to bed Max told me this was his favorite day of his life.

Happy Birthday, America.
